The final preparations: April 6 to 9, 2021

Christine gave me this wonderful piece of advice today and combined it with a Baldo-cartoon.

I agree, we sometimes overplan and we shall certainly shake out a lot of things during the first week of cycling.

Our neighbors in Annandale gave us a lovely send-off on Tuesday afternoon. We thank Sue and Chris for arranging their carport and ALL the friends that brought something over. Paula, the original salad glasses were out if this world - thanks a lot. Christine and I could not leave, we had to stay until the end.
Marius and Hilda did not listen to any reasoning. They opened their home to be used as base for our last arrangements. On Wednesday evening we went for dinner at Falafel Inc at the DC Wharf in South East. Great food and great company - thanks Hilda and thanks Marius.
We picked up our bicycles on Monday and realised that the short ride across the USA is almost upon us. We ran a couple of last-minute errands - just to ensure that we have more than we really need. :):):)

Tomorrow Marius will take us to Rehoboth Beach and we shall start cycling on Friday morning.

We pray for a wonderful trip and that God would be with us the entire way, just like He has guided us up to now.

  4. Hey, this is Kevin from Rails-to-Trails. It was great to talk with you before your left, and I plan on checking in on the blog every once in a while to see your progress. Give us a wave as you pass through DC. Safe travels!
